Abstract (summary)

Personality characteristics associated with individuals who differ in the frequency with which they report experiencing dream lucidity, awareness of dreaming as a dream while in the dream state, is the focus of this study. Male and female adults and college students are compared in terms of several personality and personal characteristic variables. Psychological and physiological well-being is associated with high lucid dreaming frequency among women but not so for men. Among the letter, religious seeking seemed to personify the lucid dreamer.
