Presented November 8, 2017 at the Centre for the Advancement of Faculty Excellence (CAFE) at MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta.
Course-based journals are a great hands on opportunity for students to learn about the academic writing process and how scholarship is shared. Students submit and review each other’s papers, request revisions, and each term, a new issue is produced that showcases exceptional examples of students’ academic work. In this session, we will discuss approaches to designing assignments around course based journals, explore existing examples, and review some easy-to-use, free software options available to MacEwan faculty interested in designing journal assignments in their own classes.
