It investigates the ways in which hegemonic masculinity is shaped and maintained by the workplace, how hegemonic masculinity shapes a sense of “community” in towns surrounding the oil sands, and the ways in which hegemonic masculinity impacts the management, safety, and functioning of the workplace and community itself.
