In two parts, this academic paper investigates comparisons between popular texts from Spain and England, respectively El ingenioso hidalgo don Quijote de La Mancha by Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra and Winnie the Pooh by Alan Alexander Milne. The first part plays on Cervantes’ phrasings in order to humorously consider the plausibility of popular literary protagonists in relationship to world figures generally perceived as verisimilar.
