Abstract (summary)
Peer-review of research literature might be the best method we have for vetting academic work for quality and legitimacy prior to publication, but it is far from perfect. This session is for anyone planning to submit work to an academic journal, act as a peer-reviewer, or who gives students assignments that require them to only use peer- reviewed articles. It will provide an overview of the history of peer-review as we now know it, addressing its weaknesses and faults while also detailing strategies and initiatives currently underway to improve upon and strengthen current practices.
