Shaping research frontiers: the Alberta Heritage Foundation for Medical Research, 1980-2005

Abstract

Endowed with $300 million to “support a balanced long-term program of medical research based in Alberta directed to the discovery of new knowledge and the application of that knowledge to improve health and the quality of health services in Alberta,” the Foundation, in its twenty-five year history, has reshaped Alberta’s research frontiers.
