Presented on August 26, 2014 at Research Day held at MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta.
Opportunities to publish research and scholarly works are many, yet so are the questions and concerns that can arise when choosing a suitable publishing venue. How do you identify high quality peer-reviewed journals in your field? What are the benefits and limitations to publishing in open access journals that are freely available on the internet? What are your options if a publisher asks you to sign away copyright to your work? And how can you find out whether your work has actually been cited and built upon by others once it has been published? This session will give you insight into these questions and more, while providing an overview of various ways in which MacEwan University Library staff can help you navigate the academic publishing world.
