Organized crime in the modern era is vastly different from the stereotypical images of the Godfather that many individuals hold in their minds. Since the advent of the digital age, traditional organized crime methods have shifted to take advantage of the benefits provided by new technology and the Internet, with digital money laundering being one of the most lucrative. Based on Christoph Wronka’s article “Cyber-laundering: The Change of Money Laundering in the Digital Age,” this presentation details how cyber-laundering takes place in the modern world. The impacts of cyber-laundering in the real-world and online as well as recommendations for addressing cyber-laundering are discussed.
