Presented on April 21, 2023 at the Faculty of Health & Community Studies Community Engagement 2023 Conference held at MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta.
The author embarked on a transformative journey when creating a three-dimensional self-portrait as part of an expressive arts-based assignment in CYCW 302. The self-portrait served as a symbol of utilizing creativity and self-reflection to navigate grief and loss. Thanks to authentic relationships with professors and community members, an objective yet restorative self-reflection was facilitated. Ultimately, the project enabled a deep exploration of personal and professional growth safely and therapeutically.
